Pickleball was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, not far from Seattle, Washington, by three fathers: Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell and Barney McCallum. They originally developed the game to keep their children busy during the summer holidays. With handmade equipment and simple rules, the success story of a sport that today inspires millions began.
Pickleball has developed rapidly and is not only popular in the USA and Canada, but is also gaining international importance. More and more courts are opening in Europe and Asia, making pickleball a global phenomenon.
